Program Spotlight: CETUSA

CETUSA or the Council for Educational Travel, USA is a not-for-profit international student exchange operating out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. CETUSA offers an array of exchange programs for high school, university and young professionals to fulfill their mission in “reaching out to encourage a lifelong journey of global peace and understanding.” CETUSA’s High School Exchange Program welcomes international students to the United States for a semester or full academic year where they attend a public high school. CETUSA’s High School Study Abroad Program allows American students to “experience the world and discover themselves” through academic and cultural immersion in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Oceania. CETUSA’s Training & Internship Programs are a J-1 Exchange Visitor Program focused on increasing “mutual understanding between people of the United States and people of other countries by means of educational cultural exchanges.” I think CETUSA is unique for a lot of reasons but what is most eye-catching to me is their program for young professionals.

Many people think about internships and study abroad during college but likely not together and most certainly not as an option after graduation. CETUSA offers the opportunity for foreign nationals to learn on the job in their career field while living with a host family. Not having to make the choice between your career and travel combines the best of both worlds! What a resume builder!

Want to get involved? Become a host family, exchange student, local coordinator, intern abroad or get your company involved in hosting an intern with CETUSA! For more information you can visit: www.cetusa.org.
